Information on the pre-enrolment process for the UB Faculty of Geography and History (IN CATALAN)
PRE-ENROLMENT PERIOD
Period: February 16th to June 20th 2024
Resolution: July 1st 2024
IMPORTANT: Once a decision has been made regarding admissions, applicants have one week to confirm in writing, via email, their intention to enrol in the master’s degree. If they fail to do this, their place will be assigned to someone on the waiting list.
PRE-ENROLMENT PROCESS
Pre-enrolment for the master’s degree must always be carried out online.
The application for online pre-enrolment in the indicated period can be found on the UB’s main university master’s degree course website, under the tab “Pre-enrolment/Enrolment”. This application allows applicants to upload the required documentation.
Documentation required for pre-enrolment
- Degree certificate or diploma that provides access to the master’s degree. Degrees issued outside Spain must be duly legalised. For more information, go to http://www.ub.edu/facgh/masters/instruccionsext.pdf (in Spanish).
- Academic record of the subjects completed or partially completed in the degree and the weighted average mark. Degrees issued outside Spain must be accompanied by an average grade statement.
- National Identity Document (DNI) or passport.
- CV including details of any professional activities or training related to women’s and gender studies, and details of any language skills.
- Personal statement. This should include your chosen instruction modality (in-person or online) and specialisation. It should explain your reasons for choosing this master’s degree and the professional and research projects you intend to carry out following the master’s degree.
- Accreditation of language skills.
* Pre-enrolments that are not accompanied by these supporting documents will not be processed.
IMPORTANT: In order complete pre-enrolment for the master’s degree, a fee of €30.21 must be paid. Only pre-enrolment applications that certify payment of this fee will be considered.
Admissions
In order to gain access to the master’s degree, applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:
- An official university undergraduate degree or diploma programme.
- An undergraduate degree in the new curriculum that was introduced in the academic year 2008-2009.
Assessment criteria
Preference will be given to candidates who show evidence of the following:
- Academic record of previous studies with weighted average mark (65%).
- Curriculum (25%), assessing:
- Adequacy of the degree prior to the Master's degree course.
- Prior studies from a gender perspective.
- Training in disciplines or fields of knowledge related to the existing guidelines.
- Professional experience.
- Mobility during previous studies.
- Knowledge of Catalan, Spanish and a third language (especially English).
- Letter of motivation (10%).
The Committee may decide to conduct a personal interview with applicants before making a decision regarding admission.
